U.S. News & World Report has recognized The Women’s Hospital in a recently released set of rankings.
The hospital, located on the Deaconess Gateway Medical Campus in Warrick County, was named a 2024 High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care. This is the highest award a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care.
“… Our team strives to provide exceptional care to women and infants within the Tri-State,” Chris Ryan, CEO of The Women’s Hospital, said in a news release.
The Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings are a tool to help expectant parents and their prenatal care team make decisions on where to receive maternity care for their family’s needs.
The Women’s Hospital earned the high-performing designation in recognition of maternity care as measured by factors such as newborn complication rates.
“We are honored to see that the continued dedication of our compassionate staff and exceptionally talented physicians is recognized on this national level,” Ryan said in a news release. “We are all deeply committed to advancing healthcare quality in our community working toward better outcomes for babies and moms.”
The organization chose 680 hospitals for this list across the nation that provide labor and delivery services and submitted detailed data to the publication for analysis. Fewer than half of those who offer maternity care and participated in the survey received a high-performance designation.
According to U.S. News health data scientist Jennifer Winston, hospitals receiving the honor meet a high standard in caring for parents with uncomplicated pregnancies.
“These hospitals have C-section rates that are 26% lower, and newborn complication rates that are 37% lower than unrecognized hospitals. Parents-to-be can research their local hospitals’ performance metrics for free at health.usnews.com to help them choose where to have their baby,” Winston said in the news release.
