LAC + USC Medical Center

The 600-bed Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center is one of the largest public hospitals in the country. Through its affiliations with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC) and the Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health, it is one of the premier academic teaching hospitals in the nation and one of the state’s leading hospitals for training health professionals. LAC+USC operates special units that serve patients from throughout Southern California, including a Burn Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a Level-One Trauma Center for the most severe injuries. LAC+USC is home to the Rand Schrader HIV/AIDS Clinic, the Violence Intervention Program (VIP) offering medical, mental health, protective, and social services to over 20,000 victims of family violence and sexual assault each year, and a renowned medical clinic for children at risk for or already in foster care.

Welcome to LAC+USC Medical Center. For generations, LAC+USC has been a destination for high-quality medical care in the community. We are committed to providing you and your family with the highest level of service.

Providing the Care You Need at the Hospital

LAC+USC provides a full spectrum of emergency, inpatient and outpatient services on the medical campus. These include medical, surgical, emergency/trauma, obstetrical, gynecological and pediatric services as well as psychiatric services for adults, adolescents and children.

Providing the Care You Need in the Community

LAC+USC works with community clinics and providers to coordinate specialty and inpatient services. We also reach patients where they are through services like the Breathmobile — a medically equipped van that visits Los Angeles County Schools to serve children who have asthma.

Our Medical Team

The LAC+USC medical staff includes more than 1,500 attending physicians from the USC Keck School of Medicine and over 900 medical interns and residents completing their medical education. The hospital also employs about 3,000 nurses at all levels.

Our Hospital Campus

A new, 600-bed hospital opened in 2008 to replace the historic hospital building that was damaged in the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. The new hospital meets stringent earthquake and fire codes and is built to withstand a high magnitude quake. The first floor of the historic hospital building is now a Wellness Center – a beautiful and dynamic new space that houses several nonprofit agencies and community health resources. The adjoining outdoor space includes walk paths, fitness trails, art exhibitions, and concert spaces. The LAC+USC campus is adjacent to the University of Southern California Health Sciences Campus, which includes the USC Keck School of Medicine, USC School of Pharmacy, Keck Hospital and the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Hospital.

Public Art and Music Program

When you visit, be sure to enjoy the paintings and sculpture from local artists in our hallways, lobbies, wards and outdoor spaces to support a healing environment. For your enjoyment, free weekday classical music concerts are held in the inpatient and clinic tower lobbies by our volunteer musicians.

Free Wi-Fi

LAC+USC provides wireless Internet access to patients, families and guests so you can use laptop computers, smart phones and other Wi-Fi enabled devices while staying or visiting the medical center. To easily access Wi-Fi, select the DHSGUEST; network; a password is not required.
